Tasting Notes
Neal Martin (94-96)
The 2019 Chambertin Grand Cru has a very refined bouquet, quite intense and focused, featuring ash-tinged black fruit combined with shaved black truffle. There is real complexity here, in a captivating set of aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins and beautifully balanced, and even though it is showing more new oak at the moment, that will be assimilated. Very sustained on the finish, but what I would like to see is a bit more grip and body, as it does not quite “kick on” as expected.
