Can Drinking One Glass of Wine Make You More Attractive?

The results of a new scientific study are about to prompt the Ideal Wine Company to ask a question we never thought we’d ever be inspired to ask. Can drinking one glass of wine make you more attractive?

Wine is great for your health

As a provider of fine wines from around the planet at prices you’re destined to love, the Ideal Wine Company has heard every health-related wine myth in existence.

We’ve been told time and time and time again that red wine is fantastic for your health because it contains resveratrol. Resveratrol is a wonder-anti-oxidant which apparently has the ability to move heaven and earth as far as your physical fitness is concerned. Yet we never thought we’d hear that wine can make you more attractive as well.

Study proves wine makes someone more attractive

Your eyes may have done a double-take but we’re deadly serious. And we’re not talking about the infamous ‘beer-goggle’ affect one experiences after a glass or two of alcohol either. The Daily Mail recently reported that a study at Bristol University proves that a glass of wine (or any alcohol) makes you more attractive.

The study asked 40 students to drink various amount of alcohol. They photographed each students face three times; sober, after one alcoholic drink then after two. Then they put the headshots in front of their sober counterparts and asked them to judge which photo was the most attractive The photos taken after one drink were rated as more attractive than their sober counterparts, however it was the sober pictures that came out on top when compared with the snaps of the students after two drinks.

Why were people more attractive after one glass of wine?

The study’s senior researcher, Marcus Munafò, went on to suggest why the study proved that people are more attractive after one drink than when they’re sober. He mused that it could have been because alcohol relaxes the face and provides your cheeks with a rosy glow, traits we associate with healthy people.

The professor went on to point out “that obviously doesn’t mean that alcohol is healthy,” elaborating that “what it means is that alcohol is sort of hijacking that mechanism, or promoting the aspects of facial features that we regard as attractive for other reasons.”

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder

We’re not quite sure what to make of this. Apparently yes, wine can make you more attractive but this study shows that beauty really is in the eye of the beholder. Either way, it can’t hurt to crack open a bottle of Ideal Wine Company’s finest Bordeaux the next time your partner comes round for a quiet night in!
