Tasting Notes
Neal Martin 93
The 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Clos Saint-Jacques 1er Cru has a flamboyant bouquet of layers of brambly red fruit, undergrowth and hints of crushed stone and wilted rose petal. You could nose this all day if you had nothing better to do. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins and fine acidity, demonstrating more depth than Fourrier, though perhaps not quite the same degree of transparency. Persistent and voluminous, this has the sweetest finish, but there is the structure to back it up. Excellent. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.
