Kata’s 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon Beckstoffer Bourn Vineyard is absolutely gorgeous. Dark, ample and super-concentrated, the 2016 possesses superb depth not to mention tremendous pedigree. Inky blue and purplish berry fruit, licorice, spice, menthol and hard candy infuse this super-expressive Cabernet Sauvignon. In 2016, the blend leans more heavily towards Cabernet Sauvignon than it has been in the past as some of the newer Cabernet plantings make it into the wine. As a result, the 2016 is not as distinctive as some previous editions, although it is hard to argue with the absolute quality of what is in the glass. The blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Petite Sirah, aged in about 85% new oak.
